What and Why

Project Drawdown is the most comprehensive plan ever proposed to reverse global warming. The heart of Project Drawdown is the complex models created by research fellows around the world. We’re hosting a small hackathon/thinkathon to create accessible, free/libre/open source software versions of environmental models created by Project Drawdown. Our goal is to initiate a free software project (probably Python) that will take these models and create an open platform to allow research partners to easily collaborate and contribute, and decision makers to easily get the data they need.

The first morning will be focused on understanding the current model, goals, and context. Drawdown research scientists will be on hand to give an overview and answer questions. Agenda will be loose and adaptable the rest of the days. It’d be ideal to join Wed morning, but there should be Drawdown folks there throughout to get people up to speed as needed.
